I have been painting for over thirty years, since studying at the National College of Art and Design in Dublin. My work has appeared in group and exhibitions including the Royal Ulster Academy, the Royal Hibernian Academy and the National Portrait Awards. For me, painting is just a way of looking at the world. Sometimes I’m trying to capture the feeling that a particular landscape instills in me. At other times I try to use imagery to express particular emotions or ideas. I use a palette of 7 colours plus white (no black) and I am always attempting to use paint in a way that feels fluid and interesting and which allows the paintings to be themselves rather than just a representation of something (if that makes sense).
